Claire「クレア Kurea」 is a Top-Grade student from Rosewood Academy and one of Blade's very first friends. She is also really close friends with Jessica.[2][3]
Appearance[]
Claire is a teenager of average height with fair skin and delicate facial features. She has dark eyes and long, black hair that reach to her lower back with a hime-style haircut over her forehead and two extra long strands, one on each side of her head.[4]
She has a lean frame with a larger-than-average bust. Claire is seen wearing her academy uniform at all times, which consists of an ivory shirt with a light pink coat draped over the shoulders, a short skirt with black knee stockings, and a pair of typical black shoes.[4]
Personality[]
Claire appears to be a very humble and respectful person. She shows great respect towards her superiors, especially those of a higher social class. However, behind that respect may also lay feelings of fear and intimidation, as it was indicated while talking to Arnest.[2] Claire used to considers herself a commoner, meaning that she frivolously embraces the fact that there are people above her, even if they deny such fact.
After meeting Blade and with the awakening of her powers, Claire begins to gain more confidence in herself, managing to reach the advanced class and finally forming true friendships with the people there.
Clair is naturally kind to everyone, caring about her friends' well-being and always trying to get along with everyone around her.

Blade[]
Claire the first time she met Blade
Due to his kind and warm nature, Claire accepted and became Blade's first friend at the academy. As time went by and seeing Blade's kind and selfless nature, Claire ended up falling in love with him, and has tried on some occasions to strengthen her ties with Blade. For his part, Blade rarely lets her out of sight, immediately jumping to her side if she needs his help.
Arnest Flaming[]
Claire respects Arnest greatly, as she refers to the latter with the honorific "-sama" and opposes referring to her casually. Like all the other students, she feared her greatly and would avoid sharing the same table with her at the cafeteria. Arnest, on the other hand, sees Claire as a disgrace to the academy, as she sees herself as lower than others and uses her rank as an excuse for her weakness (in Arnest's own words).
With the arrival of Blade, the passing of time, and seeing Claire's noble heart, Arnest's opinion changes radically; becoming excellent friends and spend a lot of time together.
Jessica[]
Jessica is Claire's best friend, they usually spend most of the time together besides being roommates. The appreciation they feel for each other is so great that it was decisive for Jessica when she decided to kill Blade. After this incident and when the whole truth was revealed, Jessica would end up falling in love with Blade, something that Jessica finds fascinating since now she also shares a love for the same boy with Claire, something that Claire finds difficult to process.
Lunaria[]
Lunaria and Claire usually get along quite well, both having in common that they both love cute things and have strong maternal instincts.
Sophie[]
Despite their quiet nature, Sophie and Claire managed to form a nice friendship in a relatively short amount of time.
Iona[]
Due to her nature, Clair was the first to find and welcome 10NA, with Claire herself naming her Iona. The two get along very well, with Claire hugging Iona whenever she finds her cute.
Eliza[]
Due to her kind nature, Claire often helps Eliza in her lab, unfortunately for her, Eliza has not been shy about using her as a guinea pig in some of her experiments.
Kassim[]
Kassim is in love with Claire, unfortunately for him, she only sees him as her irreplaceable childhood friend. Despite his behavior, Claire is quite concerned about his well-being and always tries to cheer him up when she sees him depressed. After the petition ticket incident, and Lucia's appearance, Claire's feelings for Kassim began to confuse her and she was not sure how she really felt about her childhood friend. After the incident with Lucia, their relationship returned to normal, however any interaction between the two is usually quickly interrupted by Lucia herself
Clay[]
Claire usually gets along quite well with Clay, despite the fact that they don't spend much time together, they have been seen to work as a team quite well.
Plot[]
Sometime during Blade's stay at the Low-Grades, she befriended the boy and was one of the first students Blade befriends beside Jessica.[5]
Transfer Student Arc[]
Claire is first seen walking up to Arnest and informing her about a change in the curriculum. Right before walking away, though, Arnest stops her and asks her to stop addressing her as "-sama", a request Claire refuses altogether, claiming that she's just a commoner, ultimately enraging Arnest. After receiving a scolding because she seemingly uses her background as an excuse to abstain from working hard, Claire is seen frightened, with her eyes flooded with tears.[2]
Asmodeus Arc[]
During lunchtime, Claire is later seen searching for a table in the Academy's cafeteria with her friend, Jessica. Blade invites them to sit with him and Arnest, but due to what had transpired when she and Arnest met, Claire ignored his offer and swiftly left Blade's sight.[3]
Power and Abilities[]
Claire started out as a low-ranking student within the academy, however, and thanks to her dedication, she managed to awaken her healing abilities, which allowed her to enter the advanced class with the rest of her friends.
Trivia[]
- Due to a misunderstanding, Claire confessed her love to Blade in a rather subtle way. Unfortunately Blade didn't take the hint unlike Kassim, who was left with an aching heart.
- Due to Claire's kind and caring nature, the girls do not allow Claire and Kassim to meet alone, this in order to protect her from any of Kassim's misdeeds.
- In a recent popularity poll made by Shin Araki, Claire shared the first spot with King for the most popular side character in the series, with 14 points.
- She is the first character besides the main characters to make a debut and the first with a given name.
- Due to her kindness, Claire is often the victim of Kassim's perverted antics or Eliza's experiments.
